Elizabeth Janae, better known as Ella, was born in April 2010. When she was born, there was no indication that she had Rett Sydrome. Like most girls with this diagnosis, she developed typically, hitting the vast majority of her milestones right on time.
The first few weeks were by far the scariest moments of our lives. Would he survive? What would his life be like? Would he be a normal child? My husband and I were unsure of what the future would bring. Each day we spent staring into the incubator seemed harder than the last. But Chase refused to give up.
Bella Cavallo became the face of Bella’s Angels on September 2001. It was a day full of happiness, emotion, and unexpected anxiety. We were eagerly awaiting the arrival of a healthy baby girl. Bella was born at West Boca Medical Center. She was lifted out and instead of happy cries “It’s a Girl” or “She’s beautiful”, the operating room fell silent. It was forever before we heard the weak whimper of Bella’s cry.
